Promotions

All promotion tests are presided over by Grandmaster Kim. Currently they are held in Portland on the first weekend of each month. There is a fee for each test that varies as you rise in rank. (Current fee for each promotion is shown on the PROMOTIONAL CHART below) To take a promotional test all candidates must be members in good standing, own a uniform with federation patch attached and be recommended for testing by their instructor.

IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO ASK WHEN YOU WILL BE PROMOTING OR TO QUESTION ANY OTHER STUDENTS RATE OF ADVANCEMENT.

Each month instructors will review all student records and determine which will complete their basic requirements by the next testing date.

To become eligible to take a promotional test a student must meet all basic requirements for their current rank. Prior to the rank of Brown belt, students must remain at each rank level for a minimum period of 3 months. During which time the basic requirements will be practiced. In addition to the physical requirements a student must display confidence, discipline and dedication during all workouts.

Prior to a student’s testing date, instructors will conduct a pretest. The purpose of the pretest is to give the student an opportunity to demonstrate their level of readiness. Any correction received from is to be taken without question and to be viewed as constructive. Instructors or Black belts should be thanked for taking the time to help.
